We report on searches for gravitational waves from the coalescence of compact binaries in data from the LIGO detectors. These searches target signals from inspiralling binary systems with total masses less than 35 Solar Masses and inspiral waves associated with short hard gamma ray bursts. We will present the results of searching for these systems in data collected by LIGO during 2005 and 2006. Will also give an overview of ongoing searches being performed by the LIGO Scientific and Virgo collaborations.
