Supernova Remnant SN1987A

Chandra/ACIS image of SN1987A. This is a composite of two images, taken in October 1999 (blue) and January 2000 (yellow/red). The remnant is about 1.5 arcseconds in diameter, which corresponds to about 1 lightyear.
